Sew&Vac, Inc. was founded by Bob Frisenda, a Poughkeepsie native and U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the USS Intrepid during the Vietnam War. After his discharge in 1972, he used a $2,000 Navy savings bond to open a sewing machine and vacuum sales and repair shop in his hometown.
The business quickly became a family operation, with Bob’s wife, Sue, and son, Kevin, helping grow the company while maintaining a strong commitment to customer service. Bob and Kevin are certified technicians for leading brands including Viking/Husqvarna, BERNINA, Baby Lock, Janome, Brother, and Singer.
Today, Sew&Vac operates locations in Poughkeepsie and Albany, offering machine sales, on-site repairs for all makes and models, sewing classes, and a wide selection of parts and accessories—serving customers throughout the Hudson Valley and Capital Region.
